About Us

Welcome to ML3 Technical Services

ML3 Technical Services was set up by me (Malcolm Laidlaw in 2011) with the aim to make life simpler for fresh produce growers to achieve Red Tractor or BRCGS certification. The business and me are still going strong over 14 years later.

Since starting, I have put Red Tractor systems into over 45 growers, arranged M&S Select Farm Produce systems for 7 growers, and BRCGS Quality Management Systems into over 20 packhouses / food factories.

In 2021, I set up Fresh Produce Training & Development with David Kennedy, with an aim to “Enhance fresh produce companies’ staff’s technical knowledge”. Although David has stepped back slightly to prepare for retirement, the aim is still there and we are working on developing new courses as well as updating the current courses. These Fresh Produce Training & Development are now being hosted on this website.

Is My Ingredient Safe is another branch of ML3 Technical and is a system that can look at historical food safety issues to help you identify trends and issues of concern going forward. With changes in technology, this system has had a major upgrade in 2025 with improved correlation of ingredient names.

To help with all of these services, I have employed Mel, Charlotte and Alix, and I have close contact with a number of other technical consultants who can answer questions or provide additional support as necessary.
